    Jay-Bo’s Tip of the day
If you use a BlackBerry and you Twitter it is a good idea to create your friends Twitter names in your autotext.  For example when I type any of my friends first names and then a “t” after it autotext will change it to their Twitter name. So when I type jefft it will change it to @jeffbordinhao.  Set it up, it will save you a lot of time and you don’t have to mesmerize everyone’s name.
**Reminder autotext is in options > autotext.
Thanks to Jeff Bordinhao

First look at Facebook 1.5 for BlackBerry
The Boy Genius Report did a great article on the new Facebook App for the BB.  Looks amazing can’t wait.  I posted info about it along time ago, looks like its coming out any day now.  I know Joey will be happy, he is already bugging me about it.

Barack Obama vows to keep BlackBerry despite hacking fears
George W Bush was forced to give up email when he was sworn in as President in case hackers broke into his system and worries all documents would have to be kept as presidential records.
But Obama told CBNC he is struggling to keep the Blackberry so he can maintain contact with the outside world.
“They’re going to pry it out of my hands,” he said, “This is a concern, I should add, not just of Secret Service, but also lawyers.”
Obama said keeping in touch by email was a way of escaping the trappings of power and staying in touch with the electorate.
“I’ve got to look for every opportunity to do that – ways that aren’t scripted, ways that aren’t controlled, ways where, you know, people aren’t just complimenting you or standing up when you enter into a room, ways of staying grounded,” he said.
During the interview, he described his frustration at being trapped in the White House bubble, citing examples from a recent holiday in Hawaii where he said he was discouraged from going bodysurfing.
He said his wife, Michelle, was amused at the hubbub over photographs showing him on the beach without wearing a shirt.
“It was silly, but, you know, silliness goes with this job,” he said.
The President-elect also promised a substantial overhaul of US financial market regulations as a result of the global economic crisis and said he expected to unveil plans to fight home foreclosures in the next month or two.

Tethering Macbook with BlackBerry Curve 8310

I’m on my way to San Diego to see the Holiday Bowl (for the second year in a row) and I had to bring my Macbook with me and use the good ol’ internet. Here is the link I followed to use my BlackBerry’s data plan to access the internet via Bluetooth.  A few things were a little different but nothing to crazy.

FYI I’m not to sure how it works with other providers but with AT&T you have to pay an extra 30 bucks a month.

Edgar’s first post, Bold vs Storm

    edgargallardo:

So I’ve been sitting here for a little bit trying to think about what i was going to write for my first post to tumblr. After much debate I figured I would give a little insight as to why I changed from the Blackberry Storm to the Blackberry Bold.

I have been using a Blackberry for just over two years now and I have vowed to stay a loyal user for the rest of my life. I wanna slap the shit out of somebody with an iPhone sometimes, and all of those other Verizon touch screen phones just aren’t for me. I have come to the realization that the one thing that I need most out of my mobile device is EFFICIENCY. Touch screen, cool. MP3 Player, cool. Applications, cool. But can I copy a phone number from a text message and add it to my contact list under the mobile number slot, save it and then dial that number with the touch of one speed dial button? Well that’s what  want. I could care less how cool the lists look when I slide my finger up to scroll. Honestly, some of the games and apps are really sick, but I like the fact that I can take a picture and send it as an MMS to anyone of my contacts, without needing their email address and not needing to send out an email.

These are all reasons why I stay clear from the iPhone regardless of my love for Mr Mackey (my MacBook Pro) and all products Mac. However, the reasons for my absolute disgust for the Blackberry Storm are as follows:

    - Terribooo Battery - Didn’t go one day without the POS dying in less than 12 hours.

    - Faulty Orientation Switch - Sometimes it would switch instantly. Sometimes it wouldn’t… Wouldn’t switch at all that is.

    - Touchy Touch Screen - Incredibly hard to get a cursor into an input field. Harder to click on the menu item you wanted when its in a list format.

    - New Charger and Sync Port - Really? WHAT THE FUCK!!! Who doesn’t have a standard Blackberry charger in their house? The answer to that question should be absolutely nobody. I have a crazy suspicion that every person owns a computer. Of those 100%, I am going to go ahead and venture a guess that every person has some device that uses a mini USB cord. Internet connection is almost guaranteed as well. Point? When my battery goes dead, at the very least I can plop myself in front of a computer, download the BB driver, plug in the USB cord to my phone and then into the comp and then continue to text whoever I want. What happened when my battery died last month while I was in Portland? Oh yeah, I had to wait until the next morning and buy a fucking car charger when I don’t even have a fucking car! Fuck You RIM for that!

    - Hands Free? - What do you do when you’re on the phone and you for some reason need to use both of your hands? oh yeah the same thing that everyone does, you put the phone in between your ear and your shoulder, continue to talk, and then carry on doing those breakdancing moves with your hands. Problem? The second you place a little bit of pressure on the amazing touch screen, you either hit mute, flash or begin to broadcast your phone call to everyone around since you just hit the speakerphone button.

    - INEFFICIENT!!!!! for many reasons like I mentioned before, Verizon sucks and doesn’t have rollover minutes, and everytime I looked back, I didnt see that dood with the glasses or one damn person with a verizon shirt on…. Oh, and that shit weighs like ten pounds!

I could continue, but I’m hella tired. Tired of talking about how much I hate this phone and hella sleepy. One more question tho.. Who has 2 thumbs and loves their new Blackberry Bold?

    Answer: This guy.

    E.G.

Change your BlackBerry’s default area code

If your someone like myself that has a phone plan in one state but live in another state, you have to always type the local area code in.  Well there is a setting on the BlackBerry that will change the area code that your phone dials.  To do this go to your call log (press the Send button) > menu >options > smart dialing.  Now just change the area code to your local area code. I changed mine to 614, my phone number is a 702 number, so now in Ohio my phone will always dial with the area code 614.

Upgrading your BlackBerry is not such a pain in the ass anymore, if you have a PC.  All you have to do is plug your BlackBerry in and go to www.blackberry.com/upgrade (you have to use Internet Explorer) and click the big green button “check for updates”.  Come on RIM we need support for Macs!!!
